Personal Fitness and Health

The four year, twenty-four credit plans must include one credit in Physical Education, to include the integration of Health. There are two ways this credit manifests itself on the student transcript, depending on when each segment of the course is taken.

Option One: HOPE
1506310 HOPE (Health Opportunities through Physical Education) is a full credit course taken in one year that includes both Physical Education and Health.

Option Two: Individual Half Credits:
1501300 Personal Fitnessmust be taken, as well as 0800300 Health/Life Mgmt. Each are half credit courses that can be taken at any time during the student's high school years.

Below are the publishers that provide the Personal Fitness, or Health components.

0800300 Health Life Mgmt Skills     .5 credit by design
Helps the student develop skills to enhance the quality of personal and family life.  This course stresses positive emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development of self as well as decision-making and coping skills, consumer information, nutrition with cooking labs, CPR and the danger of substance abuse and smoking.

Florida Virtual School: Life Management Skills .5 credit or
HOPE Health Opportunities through Physical Education 1 credit to meet both the Physical Education and Health/Life Mgmt requirementl.

The purpose of this course is to acquire knowledge of physical fitness concepts, understanding the influence of lifestyle on health and fitness and begin to develop an optimal level of fitness.
