Social Studies/History
Courses Descriptions/Publishers
Three credits required using the standard four-year, twenty-four-credit option, or any of the three-year, eighteen-credit options. World History, American History, American Government and Economics (or their equivalent) is required.
A note about public school Social Studies/History textbooks: One of the foundational tenets of Families of Faith Christian Academy is a world view that acknowledges the existence of God and His working among men. History, as a record of events, has been supplanted with "Social Studies," a study of culture as a means of promoting a humanistic world view. Secular textbooks provide a world view that does not just ignore the existance of God, but actualy promotes a systematic attack on God's existence. Francis A. Schaeffer described the danger of this assault on our children.
"If you hold this world view, you must realize there is no source of knowledge except what man can find for himself; all revelation is ruled out. Knowledge never can be certain, and there can be no value system except that which is totally arbitrary. And more serious than the personal arbitrary value systems is the fact that it leaves us only with arbitrary law. There is no basis for law. Law becomes only the decision of a small group of people, and what they decide at a given moment is for the good of society."
Families of Faith Christian Academy's approved course list does not list any of the Social Studies or History textbooks developed for public schools. Their use, including courses taught through the Florida Virtual School, will not be accepted or certified. In fact, if we did, we could not remain accredited by the FCCPSA.
