Homeschool Support Groups
and Activities

The following is a list of support groups, co-ops and activities in and around Polk County, Florida. While we make an effort to provide up-to-date information, the leaders and contact information changes with time. If you know of a group that is not on the list, please contact the school so we can add them.

 

Bible Presbyterian Church 5 on 5 Soccer: Final day to register is August 28th. Soccer begins on September 11 and runs through October 30.

Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA): A Florida support group, that support groups or individual homeschoolers can join. The FPEA hosts the largest homeschool convention in the state, and has one of the most informative web sites.

Haven Homeschoolers: A cooperative group of homeschooling parents and children. Teachers' (that's the parent's) meetings the first Friday of the month at Lake Hartridge Nature Park on Havendale Blvd.

Homegrown 4-H: Students can get involved in a wide range of projects including community service, air rifle, poultry, rabbits, cooking, crafts, horse, love-a-horse, photography, archery, computer technology and public speaking.

Homeschoolers on the Ridge: One of the oldest support groups in Florida. (1986) Their famous "Parents Night Out" meetings helped build homeschooling in Central Florida.

Lighthouse Home Schoolers:A Christian-based but not Christian-exclusive homeschooling community that works as a cooperative group for field trips, educational and social activities, community service, and support for one another. We meet monthly throughtout the school year. Join this group in August or January. See the website for additional details.
